Cause Analysis Of The Leading Position Of Shanxi Province's Private Higher Education

In order to solve the shortage of public education resources as well as enliven our country's education system, the private higher education has been permitted and encouraged since 1980s, corresponding to which how to develop private higher education well has become the subject discussed by people in reality and in academic area. Through almost two decades'development, the performances of the private higher education in different districts are different, among which that of Shanxi province is in the leading position. The study on the causes of such leading position is favorable to the healthy development of our country's whole private higher education system and after my research two reasons are found out which lead to the success of Shanxi's private higher education.On the one hand, from the perspective of supply-demand relations in the job market, Shanxi's rich cultural tourism resources have been developed simultaneously with the initial development of its private higher education, and as the former creates employment market for the foreign language professionals , the latter seizes this market opportunity and cultivates the related talents to meet such needs. As a result, the good employment prospects have attracted large number of students, created featured subjects and laid the foundation for the success of the private higher education.On the other hand, from the perspective of competition in job market and admission, the special education environment creates favorable conditions for the development of Shanxi's private higher education. The specialty is reflected in the following three points. Firstly, public schools lack of the sensitivity to the changing needs of job market. Secondly, the large number of public schools can offer private higher schools relative low-cost but high-quality faculty resources. Finally, the Independent Institutes which are the strong competitor of private higher schools are extremely lacking. This kind of special education environment eases up the competition faced by the private higher schools as well as provides them with faculty resources.Both of the two reasons mentioned above must exist at the same time in order to succeed the leading position of Shanxi's private higher education. Four variables can describe the two reasons: the Richness of Cultural Tourism Resources, the Number of Foreign Exchange Earnings, the Quality of Public Schools and the Level of Independent Institutes. Through the empirical analysis to the environments of private higher education in all districts of our country with these four variables, it can be found that the coefficients of the four variables are all notable in the Multiple Regression Analysis, while the two representative cases in case study also can prove the two reasons analyzed theoretically.
