Nowadays, competition exists everywhere in the world. The international competition occurs in the fields of science, technology and education. In the final analysis, the competition is about people with abilities. In the knowledge-based economy era, one of the key factors in cultivating people with abilities is the cultivation of thinking. Only people with scientific thinking methods and good thinking ability can enhance their ability of meeting emergencies and creative ability, and achieve great success in fierce competition. So it is very necessary to form thinking habits and improve thinking ability in teaching process. While cultivating thinking characteristics is one of the most important steps. At present, studying on thinking characteristics is still a new field. There are many theories in this aspect, but there are few researches on combination of theory and practice. Thus the thesis attempts to combine the advanced education concepts and teaching models to cultivate high school students'thinking characteristics efficiently and shape people with good thinking ability in new century.Under the new trend of curriculum reform on basic education in China, inquiry teaching, which has been attached importance for its exploration, openness, autonomy and so on, can help teachers to initiate students'initiatives,to cultivate students'autonomous learning ability and inquiry learning ability, to cultivate students'thinking characteristics including openness, curiosity, independence, exploration, critics and metacognition so that raise students'thinking level as a result. Physics as a natural science based on experiments has an advantage of cultivating students'thinking ability. Therefore, the thesis discusses how to combine thinking characteristics and inquiry physics teaching model. It is hoped that the present study will help to cultivate students'inquiry learning ability and autonomous learning ability, to improve students'thinking level and to foster high quality students with good thinking characteristics and thinking ability at the same time. The thesis is based on some theoretical studies. And the author tries to integrate these theories with teaching practice, and does research on the combined model of cultivating high school students'thinking characteristics and inquiry physics teaching. The thesis is composed of five chapters. Chapter One gives a sketch of background, purpose and significance of the study. This part of content is the overview of the author, which is obtained by looking up materials, investigating and interviewing, reflecting some relevant knowledge. Chapter Two describes the definition, characteristics, theoretical foundation, teaching principles and goals of inquiry physics teaching under the new curriculum standard. Chapter Three presents a review of the literature on thinking characteristics from the theoretical perspective including the development, classification, current status and research significance etc.. The theoretical studies of these two parts lay a foundation for the following practical analysis and integrated application. Chapter Four begins with the aim and process of the combined model of inquiry physics teaching and thinking characteristics cultivation, demonstrates this kind of classroom teaching model in high schools under the new curriculum reform integrating teaching practice and cases, and analyzes separately the cultivation of creative thinking which is the application of fostering students'thinking characteristics. This part is the main body of the thesis. The author's new ideas, plan and viewpoints can be found here. The last chapter serves as a conclusion, which sums up the whole content and puts forth the foreground of this study. Currently domestic researches on combination of cultivating thinking characteristics and inquiry physics teaching are very few. This thesis is just a preliminary test. As a novice researcher, theoretical and practical level is limited, imperfection is surely inevitable. In one word, much has been done by the present author, and much more needs to be done by further researchers.
