A Study On Sense Of Meaning Of Life And Mental Health Made In Medical Universities Of Sichuan Province

Higher education is an important stage and provides a new opportunity for adolescent development. Medical majors, a special group under great pressure with patients as their future job objects, deserve our exceptional attention on their cognition of life and mental health. It helps the special group bravely face pressure to make a research about how to guide medical majors to properly understand the significance of life and pursue the meaning and value of life. Meanwhile, It theoretically supports mental education made in universities to deeply study and elaborate on relationship between sense of meaning of life with mental health. Hence, about 400 students in medical universities of Sichuan province were involved in our study on sense of meaning of life and mental health with results as follows(1).On sense of meaning of life, medical majors in Sichuan Province apparently score low .(2)No sexual and residential difference was found between medical majors in Sichuan Province on sense of meaning of life. Strongest sense of meaning of life was found in third year and weakest sense in fifth year; It is in descending order in fourth, second and first year. Herbal majors have less sense of meaning of life than Western medical majors where no significant difference were found with Medical skill majors in this regard.(3).The factors which facilitate the forming and development of sense of meaning of life includes: learning motive,promising future, consistency between expectation of parents with capability and ambition of children.(4).No sexual and residential difference was found between medical majors in Sichuan Province on sense of happiness and Acceptant of Others Inventory.Significant sexual difference was found on Trait Anxiety, the males apparently having higher score than the female. Significant residential difference difference was found on self-esteem,students who come from urban and town apparently having higher score than who come from rural. 6.Sense of meaning of life closely related with mental health. It is directly proportional to self-esteem, tolerance and sense of happiness and disproportional to anxiety on scores of related questionnaire.
