Study On Construction Of Innovative Research Teams Of Graduate Students In Higher Education Institutions In China

As the implementation of"Graduate Education Innovation Plan"by Ministry of Education, universities like Chongqing University, Northwestern Polytechnical University and Jilin University brewed some methods to construct Innovative Research Teams of Graduate Students. Funded by Innovation Fund for Graduate Students, after four years of practice, many Innovative Research Teams were constructed The team members have got great academic achievements and made great progress in innovation capability and cooperation capability. As an important part of National Innovation System, the construction of Innovative Research Teams of Graduate Students is a scientific, rational and complicated process.Based on the interview and questionnaires on 40 Innovative Research Teams of Graduate Students in 8 universities, this paper explained the definition, connotation and characteristics of Innovative Research Teams of Graduate Students, and put forward four principles of construction. According to the driving styles, there are four kinds of teams, including the supervisor-driving, student leader-driving, interest-driving and project-driving teams. With the experience of Innovation Base for Graduate Students of Chongqing University, this paper conceived 5 approaches to construct Innovative Research Teams of Graduate Students. The campus innovative atmosphere, research fund and equipments, academic discussions among teachers and students, innovative thinking training and encouraging measures are very important to influence the innovation capability of team members. Finally this paper put forward methods to improve the innovation capability and cooperation capability of the team members.At present there is not enough systematic research in this area. Hopefully after the exploration on the definition, connotation, characteristics, principles and the construction appoaches and methods of the team, the research result would be helpful to construct the Innovative Research Teams of Graduate Students in higher education institutions.
