| The informationization of social life and economical globalization make English increasingly important. English, as one of the most important information media, has become the most widely used language in every field of human life. The scale of English teaching in our country has been expanding recently. English teaching has made great achievements. However, there are many problems in our English education, one of which is that the transition of English teaching materials from junior high to senior high is not very appropriate.This paper raises questions from the facts found in the teaching practice. After reading and concluding much literature, analyzing the junior English teaching materials and the senior English teaching materials, and the questionnaires that are answered by three hundred students of grade one in our senior middle school. I found many reasons for the problems caused by the unfitted transition of English teaching materials from junior high to senior high, such as the English teaching materials themselves, the teachers and the students of grade one in senior middle school and so on. Because of these problems, when students come to the senior middle school, they can't adapt to the new textbooks. At the same time, they will feel it hard to study English well in senior middle school. It is for these reasons that they can't do well in English study in senior middle school. This paper aims to investigate the reality which exists in the transition of English teaching materials from junior high to senior high and the reasons why English teaching materials can't be joined well. In the fourth part of the paper, the author raises some proper ways to solve these problems. For example, we should learn Senior English Book One together with revising the Junior English textbooks. Strengthen the cooperation and alternation between the junior English teachers and the senior English teachers, studying English textbook transition problems together. Besides, in senior middle school, teaching and researching group should establish a kind of system that teachers can prepare their lessons together, attend and evaluate the class together. Additionally, we can transform the way of teaching evaluation and compile the English transition textbooks to solve the problems. Besides these, the author also raises some concrete measures on vocabulary, listening, speaking, reading and writing. |
