On the background of the era of knowledge economy, higher education is becoming a strong driving force to promote the rapid development of regional economy. Face to the demands and challenges brought about by the new economic era, how to grasp firmly the coordinated development of higher education and regional economies, is both the objective demand of economic and social development in China, and an arduous task of achieving the country's economic and social development, and the important research fields of scholars major in education and economic.Many researches show that higher education underdeveloped in some developed regions of economy, but higher education developed in some under-developed regions of economy. In a certain time and space, the level of higher education may advance economic development, may also be diametrically opposed. However, the coordinated development between the two is the best way to eventually achieve a win-win situation from an overall perspective. We consider that the development about higher education and regional economic both at a low stage in most western regions of China. The superficial "coordination" shows the issue of correlation between higher education and regional economic has not yet been fully explored. Therefore, to establish the composite system of "higher education-regional economy" which is mutual promotion and influence and coordination is urgent need in western region, to bring into playing its positive role and influence. Based on the three aspects of literature such as relationship between higher education and regional economic, evaluation indictor system of coordination of higher education and regional economic, evaluation method of coordination of higher education and regional economic, construction with evaluation indictor system of coordination of higher education and regional economic of the reality the actual in western region. Based on the empirical research of the evaluation of coordination, advocate that to construct a corresponding system of higher education should be based on economic and social development in the western region, to promote the coordinated development between higher education and regional economy.In all, this paper has the follow contents:Firstly, we analyze the characteristics and the basic content of the coordination of system. Then, we research the basic features and functions of the coordinated development on the subsystems internal and between them, make the higher education and the regional economies as two subsystems of the composite system of "higher education-regional economy".Secondly, based on the concept, the structure and role of the foundation about the indictor system of coordinative evaluation, we discussed the principle of constructing a system of indicators of coordinative evaluation, the structure of evaluation indictor system of coordination, and then analyze the thorough analysis and evaluation methods. At last, construct the evaluation model of the complex systems of "higher education- regional economy".Thirdly, take Sichuan Province as an example of the western regions to the empirical. Combine the results of the evaluation model with the actual situation in Sichuan Province, to discuss the ways and the means how to promote the coordinated development of higher education and regional economic in the western region of China.
