Research On The Coordination And Adaptability Between Higher Education Structure And Regional Economy Development

The structure of higher education is facing new challenges during its evolution,as the strategy of raising the country’s manufacturing power advances and the 2035 vision and goals is proposed.The key to higher education development is the optimization of its structure,which has close relationship with the talent cultivation,discipline settings,scale,and characteristics of higher education institutes.The structure,on the other hand,embodies the level of a country’s higher education.On top of this,what the government can do to optimize the structure of higher education,so as to comply it with the regional economy development? To solve this issue,this study takes the higher education structure of Jiangsu Province in China to explore how it develops and what implications we can take on in the context of China’s national strategy for the regional integration of economy and education within the Yangtze River Delta.Firstly,previous studies are used for reference to make clear of basic concepts and theories,and to sort out the interactions between the higher education structure and regional economy development as well as the status quo of relevant studies.Secondly,the higher education status in Jiangsu in compared with those in Zhejiang,Anhui,Shanghai,Guangdong,and Hubei,so as to fully understand the challenges and weakness of Jiangsu’s higher education.Thirdly,the coordinative adaption is explored between the higher education structure and regional economy development from three perspectives.Diverse analysis methods,such as correlation,regression and adaptation evaluation,are applied for the coordination,levels,and employment structure between the higher education structure and regional economy development.During empirical research for the discipline structure,12 disciplines are grouped into physical science,liberal arts as well as social science.Lastly,a model is used to evaluate the coordinative development between the discipline structure and the industry structure.The study has found that the investment in higher education has a significant impact on the overall benefits of the higher education scale structure.Secondly,the dislocation between the higher education hierarchical structure and the employment structure is an important reason for the low level of adaptability of the two structures.Thirdly,the disconnection between talent training and industrial upgrading is an important reason for the decrease in the degree of coordinated development between the higher education discipline structure and the industry structure.Finally,based on the results of the empirical analysis,this study analyzes the existing problems and proposes corresponding optimization paths and countermeasures for the adjustment of the higher education structure in Jiangsu Province as well as provides reference for the adjustment of higher education structure in other regions of China.
