Mathematical textbooks act as the audio-visual carrier and reflection of the theories, content, and requirements that "the mathematical curriculum criteria" explains. How a mathematical textbook is applied reflects the suitability of "the mathematical curriculum criteria". Equations, a part of arithmetic, are the modules depicting the equitable relationship in reality. Among them quadratic equations with one unknown are a part of equational modules and the main chapter of middle school mathematics, which stands very important in junior arithmetic. In my research I first made all-round and minute comparisons about the content on quadratic equations with one unknown stated in junior mathematical curriculum criteria, original teaching outline, new curriculum textbook and original curriculum textbook. Next I researched into the difficulties and puzzles met by teachers and students in the process of teaching and learning, expounding the requirements of this chapter made by new curriculum criteria, the promotion of students' thinking contributed to by the arrangements of new curriculum textbooks, and the influences of the following study, based on which I put forward my advice on the adjustment of the chapter programmed by the textbook in content and the edition of the new curriculum textbook.
