The two debates on history textbook of middle school means the twice heated arguments that had happened in the field of history education in the past decade. Whether there are mistakes in history textbook or not was argued in the first debate. One side of the first debate's representatives is the professor An'nian Huang from Beijing Normal University and the Reference Teaching to Middle School History, the other is People's Education Press. We usually called it"the event about history textbook of middle school". Whether there is nature in protecting commerce or not in opium war was argued in the second debate. Representatives of two sides are respectively the senior editor Zhibin Ma in People's Education Press and professor Youli Nie in East China Normal University. This debate got to the peak when Sir Ma and Professor Nie had an argument about whose view is newer in history teaching materials. So, the field of history education called it"the argument between Ma & Nie".This paper mainly researches into teachers'renewal view in the history teaching materials in the background of current reform on history curriculum, and call on more historians attentive to history teaching in middle school by analysis and comparison of the two debates. Its body consists of three parts.Part I: The beginning and the end of the two debates on middle school history textbook. This part is the basic of this paper. We could deeply know the change in history education of middle school since the new curriculum reform though the twice debates'state.Part II: The Similarities, the differences and the shortages of the two debates: The contrast between the first debate and the second is based on the former state, also looking for the focus of the two debates. They lay the basic for the following inquisition.Part III: Thinking of the two debates. It is the key section of this paper. This part is based on the similarity and the shortage of the two debates. This paper emphatically researches how the history teacher, a chooser and user of the middle school history curriculum resource, treat the teaching material which is an important curriculum resource. Or rather, how exploit the teaching material resource; especially how treat the generative curriculum resource in history class on the guide of the"stuff teaching material".Meanwhile, this part discuss the development of history curriculum which need more historian's concern. History educations in middle school call on historians and history educators hand in hand.
