The multi-campus already became a universal pattern of universities in China.Compares with single campus university, management of multi-campus universityhas its own particularity and complexity. However, as multi-campus universityappears too late in China, research of its management is still a new topic. Theproblems of multi-campus university are, efficiency is not to be high, fusionlacks strength, localization is not to be permit, and authorization is not tobe appropriate and so on. All of these need to be discussed and Standardizedtheoretically, examined and consummated in the practice.This article mainly draws support from organizational structure theory, takesShandong multi-campus universities as sample, analyzes its present situation andmanagement characteristic specifically, and discusses current typicalmanagement patterns of multi-campus university and choice of them. Mainly hasdone following several works:1. Establish contingent factors that affect the choice of multi-campusuniversity management pattern. Essence of multi-campus university managementpattern choice is centralization or decentralization. And, factors that affectmulti-campus university management pattern choice are the way it forms, scaleof school, number of organizations, distance between campuses, personnel'sfluidity between campuses, number of campuses, service degree of organizationsand so on.2. Analysis relations between influence factors of multi-campus universitymanagement pattern and centralization degree are following:(1) Newly built universities have relatively high decentralization, butmerged universities and mixed type universities have relatively highcentralization;(2) Number of established organizations is positive correlation with thedegree of authorization;(3) Fluidity of personnel is negative correlation with the degree ofauthorization;(4) Number of campuses is positive correlation with the degree ofauthorization;(5) High service functions should to be decentralization, but Highdecision-making functions should to be centralization. 3. Fatherly analyze work mechanism of each kind of management pattern. Mainlyincludes, implement principal responsibility system leaded by Party committee,establish fast feedback mechanism based on the network management information,and unified resources sharing mechanism; Implement competition post system ofmain leadership of campuses, establish fair and equal competitive system ofcampuses, and reasonable encouragement mechanism of prize and reward; realizereconstruction of unified campus culture.4. Propose corresponding policy and counter measure suggestions. Onmacroscopic, should to implement school-based management, strengthen right ofuniversities to be independence; Provide convenience to realize the change frommulti-campus university to single campus university through land replacement;On microscopic, strengthen construction of host campus; Pay attention to displaythe biggest effectiveness of education resources; Pay attention to the efficiencyof movement cost; Strengthen network management of multi-schools multi-campusuniversity; Strengthen conformity of campus culture.Speaking of higher education of China, general character of multi-campusuniversities formation is quite prominent, time is quite centralized, andsuperiority is obvious. But, because the time of practice and exploration is shortand the researches in theory are quite few, lack mature pattern to promote. Theoryachievement of this research is not only used for advancing reform of internalmanagement of universities in China, unceasingly enhancing school efficiency andbenefit, providing certain rationale, but also has important instructionsignificance in theory to adjust layout structure to higher education managementdepartment, optimize higher education resources disposition, unceasinglyenhance national accomplishment, and the country's competitive ability.
