Altitude training has been widely adopted in many sports events. Traditional altitude training has taken the advantage of the special environment of high altitude area and it could improve athletes'exercise ability through enhancing the respiratory, cardiovascular and exercise systems'function. But people begin to realize that in traditional altitude training, the exercise intensity is not as high as the training in plain area and the recovery process has become difficult for athletes. People also find that more illness and injury occur during altitude training, the synthesis process of protein becomes slower than it does in plain area and the athletes'special strength gets weak too.Simulated plateau training has recently been extensively used, and it could solve the problems occur during traditional altitude trainings."Hi-Lo"is the abbreviation of the term"living high and training low"and it is an effective training method to enhance endurance ability based on traditional altitude training."Hi-Lo"was first put into use by the American scholar-Levine, which it could make up for many shortcomings of traditional altitude training and has gradually replaced the traditional method. This research has taken the outstanding athletes in the Shandong swimming team as subjects. Through simulated plateau training in the low-pressure chamber, the athletes took 3 weeks'combining training and we investigated the athletes'ability of transferring oxygen. We also took cortisol and so on as indexes to research on interval hypoxic training. The result shows that interval hypoxic training could obviously improve the athletes'RBC and Hb level and this will be benefit to the oxygen transferring ability. In the meantime, the decline of body weight and muscle content has appeared among the athletes. This research show that interval hypoxic training could be an effective and economic training method and it could also take the place of traditional altitude training. It will be beneficial to enhance the swimmers'endurance ability. But this training method will bring some unfavorable effects as well such as protein's decomposition.
