Since the appearing of human civilization, the transmission of culture has become the main subject to our ancestors. The transmission of culture couldn't be without a certain environment of time and space, and classroom is just the typical representative of this kind.Classroom is the stage where teachers and students demonstrate the meaning of their life in a certain set of time and space. From a historical view, classrooms of a certain period share some similar characters, which formed so-called classroom paradigm. With the development of the society and the times classroom paradigms shift from one form into another constantly. The classroom paradigm established before the class teaching system was founded by Comenius can be called"pre–classroom paradigm", after that the"technology-oriented classroom paradigm"has become the dominant paradigm of the school education. Technology-oriented classroom paradigm can be further divided into strongly controlled classroom paradigm and weakly controlled classroom paradigm. Among those changes it is an important paradigm shift for the technology-oriented classroom paradigm to turn into the ecological classroom paradigm. Technology-oriented classroom paradigm lasted for the longest time in history and exerted the most widespread effect on human society. Technology-oriented classroom paradigm was the model classroom of the industrial age, which treated science and technology as its standards, trying to enhance people's cognitive efficiency and result as its direct purpose, and conquer and take advantage of the nature as its ultimate object. This could indeed be called an intelligence revolution in human history. However, just as there have appeared the negative consequences such as destruction of ecology and shortage of energy in human society under the guidance of technical rationality, likewise side effects like fragmentation of classroom ecology, modeling of teaching process and uniformity of student's personality. Under this circumstance the idea of ecological classroom substituting technology-oriented classroom has become the necessity of the times and the development of education.Ecological classroom refers to the classroom that reaches the state of ecology. Essentially speaking, ecological classroom means a related, developmental, harmonious and symbiotic one, which includes natural ecology, cultural ecology, behavioral ecology and psychological ecology. Compared with traditional technology-oriented classroom, ecological classroom is characterized with its openness, diversity, integrity, self-organization and generation. Concretely speaking, the construction of an ecological classroom is to construct an open and diversified ecological curriculum system, establish a democratic and equal ecological teacher–student relationship, develop an ecological classroom teaching method characterized in communication and dialog, build a dynamic and developmental ecological classroom evaluation system, and create a harmonious and symbiotic classroom environment.This dissertation is divided into four parts:Part one: this part introduces the background, related study at home and abroad, significance, train of thought and method adopted, meanwhile defines the related conceptions.Part two: through observation and comparison of the classroom paradigms appearing in history this part demonstrates that the idea of ecological classroom put forward contemporarily is the inevitable requirement for the development of the classroom.Part three: this part deeply explores into the nature, connotation and characters of the ecological classroom.Part four: this part puts forward the concrete strategies of how to construct an ecological classroom.
