Abstract: With the development of computer, multimedia and network technology, Internet is focused on by people because it can display various sort of media element. When network technologies are introduced into the field of education, network education, a new teaching form, is come out. Network education can make people teach and learn without time and place constraint, which brings convenience and flexibility for people who want to learn. It can also make people from all over the world share education resources.Although the network education has made great processes in recent years because people pay highly attention to it, it has a shorter history than traditional education. There are some aspects which need us to study and discuss endlessly, such as some new education views which are brought by some new technologies, education practice and some technologies which support network education.Starting with some problems in network education which are generally accepted, the author finds that there are short of supports of individual learning and collaborative learning in many network teaching systems. Combined with related educational theories and models which can be used in the network, the author develops a proper and suitable networking system. In this paper, the author firstly analyses essences, characteristics, operation sequences in individual learning and collaborative learning. Furthermore, considering related technologies (including network programming, network services, database), the author designs and develops the data exchange and sharing among different modules. Finally, point out the disadvantages in this system in order to supply some references to its modification.The main content of this paper is divided into five parts:Part 1: Preface.Through reviewing the development of network education at home and overseas, we find out there are some defects in the network education at present. These defects manifest in following four aspects: firstly, the understanding to long-distance educational system is insufficient. The traditional ideas often attach importance to the exploitation of a single network curriculum or network courseware, but neglect the function of network instruction system and don't realize that to develop a web-based Course should rely on the education system. Secondly, the educational model in the network teaching is unitary, lacks to the teaching activity's support. Thirdly, software developer and instruction designer don't work together, so the ideas of the instruction design is difficult to incarnate. Finally, individual learning is insufficient; some systems don't provide individual learning's implements. So the author brings forward this researcher.Part 2: The theories about teaching and learningIn this part, firstly, the author elaborates the conception, characters of the individual learning and the conception of web-based individual learning. Secondly, the conception, characters of the collaborative learning and the conception of web-based collaborative learning are elaborated. Finally, the author analyses the relationship between the individual learning and the collaborative learning. Those theories are the precondition and the foundation to design and develop the system.Part 3: General design of the systemIn the part, firstly, the aim of the system is stated. Secondly, according to the design of the software, the author states general configuration of the system. This system is based on B/S model. Finally, the needs of this system for the computer are listed respectively.Part 4: the design and develop of main module in the systemChapter 4 presents some technologies, the database design for several main modules, companied with the process of the work, relevant methods, codes and interfaces.Part 5: The conclusions and the limitation of this thesisThe last chapter sums up the whole system and points to the places what the system should still be completed and corrected.The work of this thesis includes:The author uses ASP+SQL Server2000 technology to develop this system which is built in Windows IIS. This system has the following characteristic:(1) Provide an interface that is simple and apt to use for teachers.(2) Display the all kinds of course content.(3) Provide the intercommunicate and function of group study which can help learners to share on Internet.(4) Provide the individual space for learners. So learners can study initiatively and discover knowledge.
