Case Study On Development And Innovation Of Urban Danwei Community

Chongqing is a city which has a long history associated with Danwei. As one of the basement of three gorges project construction, it had a lot of state-owned factories in the past time. Those factories made much contribution to the development of military affairs, industrial programs and the people's living of our country. But during the reform to market economy, a lot of factories lost their place in the competition and had to face the bankruptcy; however, employees in those factories were to be job-losers because they could not depend on their factories any more. Factories don't exist like before, but there still have so many residents in the Danwei community who are retired employees or job-losers from the factories or new workers having a weak competition. These days our government has done a lot to propel the community construction, and how to develop those Danwei communities and how to meet the challenge of the society is a focus of urban community researches. Looking back to the past, we can expect our future. Therefore, nowadays with the gradual downfall of Danwei community, it is very necessitous to study the developmental course of the unit community. For this, basing on some visits, i chose a community which has typical feature of Danwei Community as my study case. I'm trying to know the common situation of the whole Danwei community deeply through case analysis.In this paper, we use such methods as literature analysis, questionnaire investigation, observing on the spot and deep interview, to learn the past history and the present situation of case community. And under the guidance of community managing theories, the paper puts forward a theory model about the future development of case community, which gets a conclusion that community construction is propelled by government, community organizations and community members. A successful developed model of community needs the support from the government, the actions from the community organizations, especially the active participation from the community members. So it has to reinforce the awareness about the community of members, propel the development of all kinds of social organization, foster the democratic awareness of community members; meanwhile, it is necessary for government to build up a perfect legal system. In one word, participation of community members is the most important.
