Traditional physical education in our country paid more attention to teaching knowledge, so the whole teaching process was just around how to teach effectively. In this situation, the students could master the knowledge well, but when they did some experiments or do some practical research, they couldn't solve the problems they met. The students generally think physics difficult and useless; they have no interest in learning it. Why do they think physics difficult to learn? That is to say they don't understand the system of physical knowledge. They can't solve the practical problems because they lack the ability of constructing physical models, they can't make physical models according to real life. They think physics useless because they know little about the application of it in since. Therefore, the author thinks it is necessary to improve the students'ability of constructing physical models.There are three parts in the essay. The first part is to introduce the idea. Combining the problems that the present students have in studying senior high school physics, and the teaching aims in the Standard for Senior High School Physics (For experiment); the author introduces the reason why senior high school physics class should have constructing physical models. The second part is the base of the theory. In this part, the author explains the concept of physical models, as well as some detailed elaboration of the models high school students often use. At the same time, the author shows the function and significance of physical models in the development of physics and in senior high middle school physics teaching. The author also explains the students'ability of constructing physical models and the importance of this ability in learning physics. The third part is to show some examples. We have investigated some students'understanding of physical models, and done some research on overcoming the weak links. The author writes the ways and methods to train the students'ability of constructing physical models, and do some teaching practice. The results of teaching prove that training the students'ability of constructing physical models has great effects on learning physics.
