In Recent years, alone with the advance of our country's modern construction, we need a lot of persons who have all kinds of techniques to fasten our country's modernization, so our country gives great enthusiasm to vocational school education. Beforetime we always spent great power setting up a lot of all-around ordinary high school and training skilled workers. Although they have knowledge in theory, they are absent in practice, when they take part in work, they can't adapt to their job, so they have no ability to serve for the country's construction. From this, our country invests plentiful manpower and fin to sustain the construction of vocational school education, this action have gained primary effect. From historical angle,this paper analyzes Huang Yan Pei and Dewey's thoughts of Vocational Education in order to benefit our Vocational Education in theory and in practice.Huang Yan Pei and Dewey are famous educationalists in the educational world, their thoughts are praised by the posterity. At that time, according to China's practical demand Huang Yan Pei proposed his own vocational education thoughts, along with the mature of his thoughts; finally he formed his own educational thoughts system"The Broad Vocational Education"In the great system of education theories set up by Dewey, the speculation and exploration about vocational education is a necessary and important part. Anyhow, due to the traditional ideas of putting more attention to common education than vocational education, and less abstruse writing on vocational education by Dewey, the emphasis and study on vocational education cannot match with that to his whole education theory. In this paper, by collecting and understanding a great deal documents and materials about the Dewey's vocational education thoughts, comparing with Huang Yan Pei's thoughts. Because of the similar historical condition and critique to the traditional vocational education, they had much more the similarity in their vocational education thoughts; however, they also had much difference under the different situation in two different countries and system. Through the research to their vocational education thoughts we can get some very significative illumination and value.In this paper, it is divided into five parts. In the first part the author gives a simple outline to their vocational education thoughts; In the second part ,the author compares for the two scholars' vocational education thought and analyzes the reasons about the similarities; In the third part the author compares the difference between the two scholars' vocational education thoughts and analyzes the reasons about them ; In the fourth part the author describes the influence of their educational thought on the development of the vocational education. To compare is to study, so in the last part of this paper it explains its practical significance and the model value to our country's vocational education at present. In order to do well in our vocational education, on one hand we must absorb useful experience from the overseas;on the other hand we must pay attention to the localization, the external culture must suit to China's national condition, only like this can we do well in China's vocational education, and can better promote our country's modernization construction.
