As we all know that teacher is the key to the education development and quality. So all nations around the world make an emphasis on improving the quality of teacher in the education reform. To ensure the quality of teacher, the United States has established a set of quality assure mechanisms, which contains teacher preparation, induction and in-service training. The standard of accomplished teachers set by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) plays an important role in the in-service training. The paper makes a preliminary analysis based on the standards of accomplished teachers with the purpose of providing useful lessons for teacher education reform.The paper consists of five parts:Part One explains the reasons of choosing the topic and general research of this problem.Part Two elucidates the background of the standard in the three levels. They include political and economic level, teacher education level, teachers' specialization level. The main purpose is to improve the quality of education and enhance the level of education in the United States through promoting the quality of teachers. Under the influence of education reform in the United States, the request on teachers inevitably generates changes. Not only is the direct result to institute the accomplished teachers' standards, but also to carry out high standards and strict requirements of certification. It has become a trend in teachers professional development.Part three discusses the content of standard on the basis of five core propositions and selects two cases from it. They are Middle childhood and early adolescence/Mathematics Standards (for teachers of students ages 7-15) and Adolescence and Young Adulthood/Science Standards/(for teachers of students ages 14-18+). These two specific subjects of accomplished teachers' standards confirmed the five core propositions of NBPTS which contains the concepts of cooperation,research and reflection.Part four analyzes the characteristics and effect of the standards. Meanwhile, this part reflects the content of the standards and the assessment process. The Standards highlight the professional quality of teachers, that is fair to treat every student and teachers are responsible for students learning while reflecting the trend of research, reflection and cooperation in the teacher education. In the development process with emphasis on training teachers, NBPTS continuously consummates standards and raises the operation of the certification. These measures effectively ensure the quality of teacher and enhance the quality of school education.Part five describes some inspiration from the standards of accomplished teachers in the United States. The inspiration is useful to teacher education reform in our country.
