| The curriculum reform has been into the classroom. The reform centers on the transformation from the traditional emphasis on language points to emphasis on language skills and from the emphasis on effect to process. It also focuses on changing the teacher-centered situation to the student-centered one to promote the students' creativity and practical skills. The paper is an attempt to research on the efficiency and usage of dialogue teaching. It aims at improving the effect of senior English reading class, so as to enhance the students' reading ability and integrated language capacities. By using the dialogue reading method for a year, the witer of the paper has the students taking part in the activities the whole class instead of listening to the teacher's analysis of the text, which has made a satisfactory achievement. Dialogue teaching emphasizes the equal and multiple relations between the teacher, students and the author of the text. It regards reading as a dynamic process. During the activies of the teacher's guiding and students' reading, joint participation and cooperation, the teacher and students respect each other and are compatible with each other. In this democratic harmonious and lively atmosphere in the classmom, the teaching effect can be effectively improved.Reading takes a lot of time and plays an important role in students' English learning . Facing the reform, the writer begins with a questinaire to find out the problem of the present English reading teaching in middle schools. The questionaire shows the main reasons for the low efficiency in English reading. Considering the reading requirements raised by the English Course Criteria for the senior high school students together, the writer has a solution to the problem—dialogue reading method.Then the connotation and demands of dialoguereading method are explored in Chapter II.The most important parts of the paper are Chapter III and IV, which are about the strategy of the dialogue reading method and the experiment of it.In the part of strategy, the initiative role of students in reading is emphasized. At the same time, the guiding role of the teacher is also stressed. Since the students become the main characters of the dialogue , the teacher should play the part of a guider, facilitator and encourager. Comparing the two expenimental classes, the writer of the paper has found it evident that there are many advantages of dialogue reading teaching class over the class.In the end, the effects of the dialogue teaching in reading class are described and some specific suggestions for teachers are given. It is hoped that this paper can be of some help to middle school English teachers in their reading teaching and that the method can be used widely. |
