Professor Tianrui Miao is a famous educator, theorist and translator on music in China.Professor Miao wrote primary school music education and methodology mainly based on the education practice as a primary school music teacher in 1927. In the writing process, he consulted many counterparts' experience and absorbed modern theory. To do a good work, he had begun to collected related material since 1933, which lasted for more than ten yeares. At last, he finished this work, which was the first book on primary school music education and methodology.Mr. Shihui Jin had praised professor Miao's work highly." This book was complete and comprehensive, which satisfied the demand of primary school teachers at that time. It had been named as an encyclopaedia, which was worthy owned by every primary school music teacher. "This article begins with the professor Miao's contribution to music education and research. Then, it focuses on the content and ideas of primary school music education and methodology. What's more. The arthor takes the social and culture background into consideration further to find that this book had its own historical limitation.Time changes. Twenty century witnessed that music education had grown from infantility to youth. This period was full of many new knowledge. Considering this, the author tries to put this book into this great period to find out development system, analyse and summarize its main character.In additon, the arthor compares this book with the present music education standard. On the basis of comparative research, the author finds out the book's progress and limitation and reveals it in this article.
