The Status Of The Senior 3 Students' Study And Life

The Senior 3 student's study the subjects which will be tested in the National Matriculation Entrance Test, so they put emphasis on how to develop test skills in order to get a high score in the NMET. Schools, teachers and parents sacrifice the student's physical and mental health to get a so-called satisfactory score. Quality Education has been put forward for many years, but the situation is still not improved. On the contrary, it becomes more and more serious.On Feb. 13, 1993, some new requirements appeared in The Compendum of Reform and Development in China's Education. The elementary and high schools should transfer the goal from the examination-oriented education system to education for all-around development, cultivating students who are good at both study and other aspects of life. This concept began to change our education.The new concept leads us to facing all the students, and evaluating their representation in morality, study, laboring and mentality quality. We should regard the students as initiative objects, pay attention to their own development, and promote their lively and individual improvement. Qulity Education also focuses on creating conditions in courses, teaching and comment. In the future,we ought to stress the cultivation of living ability and independent and creative characeter.However, in reality the basic education especially the senior educaion thinks of the NMET as its core, and empharsizes the scores. The courses the students studies in school are those which will be tested in the NMET. What the teachers teach in class also focuses on the knowledge which will be tested. The teachers require the students to do exercises and remember them repeatedly, which makes contributions to the examination-oriented education. The students spend almost all of their spare time on exercises so that they have no other time to build up their morality, health and psychology, which causes some problems, such as myopia, overweight, heavy pressure, inadequate sleep. Some students even have exceptional mental status.Through careful investigation, my research uses theory and examples to reflect the real state about the Senior 3 students, which uses the Senior 3 students of D Middle School as examples. On the other hand, the Senior 3 students, parents and some teachers are trying to make efforts to the students'all-around development. And they have drawn some conclusions about the status, hoping to find out some problems and solutions.Setting out from the conflict between the examination-oriented education system and the education for all-around development, this paper studies the harm of this conflict to the students. Wish to make some foundation to the advanced research of the situation for the Senior 3 students.
