The school PE teaching reform should be humanism-based, focus on the development of students' personality, adapt to the changing times, and has the transition to life-long PE. Higher PE teaching should direct itself to the students' both physical and mental desire, the arousing of their interest, the development of their habit and the improvement of their health. The selection courses can meet their needs and promote the realization of the curricular goals in . There is a long history of performing PE selection course in Hunan province. A certain achievements have been made, but there are still some problems in the process. Due to many factors and the lack of experience, the quality of selection course has been affected in some degree.By using documental inquiries, questionnaires, interviews with experts, statistics, this thesis analyzes the current situation and the existing problems in higher PE selection course in Hunan and points out that the higher PE selection course should be humanism-based and gradually transit to life-long PE. Furthermore, some teaching patterns beneficial to the improvement of selection course are offered. Finally, the thesis points out that improving selection course teaching gradually will be significant to the deepening of the higher PE teaching reform.
