This paper,with Contrastive Analysis(CA),Error Analysis(EA),as its theoretical guidance,analyzes the compositions written by the participants in Junior Two from NO.16 Middle School.A classification of the errors is made first,followed by a discussion of the factors leading to the errors,with emphasis on the latter.The analysis shows that intralingual errors and interlingual errors are two major factors. Following the analysis and discussion,relevant error correction methods,our attitude towards learners' errors and pedagogical implications are put forward.This paper is altogether composed of five chapters as follows:Chapter One sets out to trace the background of Error Analysis in the field of Second Language Acquisition research and points out the directing significance of EA to teachers and students.Chapter Two first introduces Contrastive Analysis which was popular in the 1950s and 1960s;secondly,introduces the theory of Error Analysis,the procedures of Error Analysis and sources of errors;then,introduces three influential classification in linguistic field on the errors language;finally,introduces the treatment of errors.Chapter Three introduces the reason to choose writing errors;describes the main steps of the research and makes a classification of the participants' errors;absorbs the good points of the classification some experts and classifies the errors found from research made by the participants from NO.16 Middle School into 9 types,finally explores the possible causes of the learner errors with the data gained from the research.Chapter Four provides some implications from the analysis of learners' errors. and an eclectic attitudeChapter Five summarizes the whole paper and proposes the limitations of the research.
