Values Development In Foreign Language Teaching

values change while the society is changing. As a teacher ,we should pay more attention to the importance of the values development of the students. The proper values of students can direct them and make them have a bright future. There is a sharp contrast between the Chinese mainstream culture values and western culture values .The quality education and moral education are the basic for values development in China. Based on the empirical study on "the valuesorientation among college students, approaches were explored to integrate value education with curriculums .especially with language teaching, about which basic steps were suggested .The paper presented the method of identifving values in the words, fables and literature works in foreign language teaching and combining values development with the practice of basic English skills .It also suggested making good use of course books to impart values by taking the current English course books as an example and pointed out the role teachers play in values development. As a conclusion, the author proposed that in accordance with the thought of "Three Represents", the native cultural values and national spirits should be maintained, while the target language and cultural values are acquired. We can make our culture wide spread and carry forward.
