Moral education is the nurturance and education of dharma. It comes along with the appearing and developing of our human society. It has different internal and external meanings in different historical period. Nowadays, China is experiencing a deeply innovation. At the same time, some moral problems appeared too. At one hand, these problems prevent our socialistic modernization from conducting smoothly. At the other hand, these problems challenge seriously to our school moral education. So it is necessary to learn valuable experiences of school moral education from other countries all over the world. China and Japan are both located in East Asia, with a large population and poor natural resources. Besides, they are affected by the culture tradition of Confucian deeply. After the World War Two, Japan economy develops at full speed. Japanese went up to the developed countries in Europe and America less than 50 years. It benefits from Japan government taking serious to school moral education in some sense. Using the study methods of literature, history and comparison, this dissertation compares school moral education between China and Japan, and discuss what the comparison reveal to our school moral education reforms nowadays.Firstly, this dissertation gives a generally introduction to the moral education, including the definitions of the moral education and school moral education, the history and development of moral education, the important role of moral education to society and individuals. Secondly, this dissertation recalls the development history of school moral education in China since the founding of the Peoples Republic of China and in Japan since the end of World War II. The school moral education development processes of the two countries are divided into three historical stages. The writer is trying to carry out more comprehensive features in various stages. Thirdly, this dissertation compares and researches the contemporary school moral education between China and Japan from 5 aspects, theory bases, goals, contents, methods and evaluations systematically and comprehensively. Finally, based on the comparison and analysis, the writer puts forwards some ideas on how to improve our school moral education.
