Referring to the evaluation of students' learning, people would soon associate it with exams and exams' result. This is because the concept of "Learning is just for exams" has played a negative effect on people for a long time. However, new"Curriculum Standard of Maths" presents specific reqirements on evaluation. It deems that the aims of evaluation are to fully observe students' learning state, to inspire students in learning and to promote the development of the students in a all-round way.For the evaluation of students' maths learning, the teachers should not only focus on whether students understand and grasp the knowledge and skills they have learned, but also pay attention to the formation and development of students' feelings and attitudes during maths learning. The methods of evaluation can be various, such as evaluation by students themselves, among themselves, by teachers, by parents and by people related in this area and so on, among which evaluation students' self evaluation plays an important role. This paper introduces theory bases of self-evaluation. It makes a brief discussion on how teachers can play a guiding role in students' self-evaluation so as to encourage the students to achieve positive and full development, which will finally improve the teaching quality. I draw lessons from No. 10 Middle School of Putian in which students correct exercises by themselves or by each other. I also learned much from No. 1 Middle School of Jiangmen in Guangdong which has achieved much in the Methods of senior students'self-evaluation in maths study". Therefore, in order to make the students benefit from both teaching and learning. I guide the students to make self-evaluation in homework, unit exams, mid-term and final examinations, ask them to write down their self-evaluation on the test paper or exercise books and encourage them to communicate with teachers to make the teachers' teaching more effectively.
