In recent years, graduate education in our country has a rapid development to meet the demand of socio-economic development. It is bound to change the traditional graduate training model along with the ex-development of graduate education enrollment and the diversified social needs. It is needed to resolve the problem that how to reform and improve the original graduate training model and enhance the quality of graduate education further.At present, universities of our country are still adopt the single academic graduate training model which neither classify graduate students according to the demand of society nor reflect the different types of training links from enrollment to the goal of training educational system and curriculum and so on. Therefore, the talents our country trained are single academic talents, which can not meet the diversified needs of society.Aim at the solution of problems of graduate training model, this thesis uses literature research methods historical research methods comparative research methods and investigation research methods to analyze domestic and foreign graduate training model in both horizontal and vertical views. This thesis sums up the success experiences and problems of graduate training model while clarifies the formation and development process of it; and then, sums up the success experiences and revelations of British and American graduate training model from the analysis of evolution laws and elements of them. On the basis of the these, this thesis puts forward some basic assumptions to improve the graduate training model of our country: Graduate education should follow the internal and external development laws, pay attention to the background of "the development of the market economy" and "the global economic integration" , and reflect the requirements of "populization of higher education" and "lifelong education" . Correspondently, graduate training model should follow the principles of diversification reference and innovation identity and difference of subjects, establish a new model of "training according types" , this model can adopt academic research type technical application type and professional skill type when be implemented in Wuhan University of Technology.
