With the fast development of our country's economy, the secondary vocational and technical persons are laid stress on. Writing skill, however, as one of the most important skills, are increasingly neglected. In recent years, the students' quality in secondary vocational schools is declining. This has brought great difficulties for teaching. Chinese composition teaching is also a hard nut to crack. Besides, the traditional teaching concepts and methods lead to the disorder and low effects in the composition teaching. Thus, a reform in the composition teaching in secondary vocational schools is urgent and significant.The secondary vocational education, which should be based on contemporary concept,ought to be used to promote students' development all over sides, pay attention to the spirit and ability of innovation and practice. And then we can make them solid foundation which are listed above.This thesis believes that composition teaching should move from subsidiary towards independence; from ideological education back to teaching students how to write compositions; from teacher-centered towards students-centered.The thesis also believes that we should form a new way of open-model composition teaching, paying more attention to the guide to the students' writing, arousing their interests in writing and developing their ideas of innovation to achieve the goal of improving the quality of composition teaching in secondary vocational schools. The practical methods are as follows:Firstly, we should optimize the form of assigning a subject for composition by diversifying the forms, paying attention to the directive function of assigning a subject and the students' intelligence.Secondly, we should encourage the students' free association, daring imagination and develop their abilities to seek differences, think broadly and innovate.Thirdly, we should establish a cooperative and collective assessment system by developing the students' self-assessment abilities, attach importance to their composition assessment and arouse the students' writing interests by such strategies as encouragement and praise.
