Since the 1980s, worldwide pedagogical reforms on science teaching are like a rising wind and scudding clouds. The serious global problems confronting human beings, the fierce national competition, and the status in quo of the secondary schools urge all the countries to attach importance to secondary and primary school education. These countries, especially western developed countries, have paid special attention to the reinforcement and improvement of scientific teaching. Therefore through excellent elementary teaching, which includes science teaching in particular, to improve national science-conscious accomplishment has been a strategy for a country's development. In the new curriculum reform of our country, the teaching of"science"has put scientific inquiry as the core of reform. It emphasizes the improvement of the mode of teaching and learning as a teacher or a student. This has completely put the strategy of developing our country through science and education into practice. In this dissertation, the author focuses on Xixiang Middle School to study this problem. Through the study, the author has probed into the way to carry out the conception of the New Curriculum in the teaching of Science.First of all, the author discussed the necessity and importance of the study of Inquiry Teaching in Science teaching from the aspect of human's cultivation, cognition and development in our country. In addition, under the guidance of the theory of inquiry and through investigation and the rethinking of the teaching status in quo, the author is trying to find a practical strategy for implementation of inquiry teaching in Grade Seven and Grade Eight.Experiments and practice prove that teachers of Science should strengthen the study of the theory of inquiry and create good conditions for research. Meanwhile, they must find appropriate ways to apply inquiry-teaching methods. Besides, in practicing inquiry teaching, they should be skillful in dealing with the relationship of the principalship of students and the dominance of teachers, the relationship of the teaching results and the processes, the relationship of inquiry teaching and traditional teaching, the relationship of inquiry teaching and CAI. Only in this way can they blend inquiry teaching into routine work naturally. With these teachers'efforts, our educational work will be fruitful.
