This paper aims at finding the development characteristing of the Middle School students on the comprehending of section,and how far they have achieved. The purpose of the research is to discover the psychological features in comprehending the sections of the selected objects and to provide some scientific data for the teaching of geometry and the syllabus design.The subjects of this research are 180 students from grade 1-grade 3 in Junior Middle schools. All the tests are started at the first term of 2006.From the research come the conclusions:1 As a whole , the older the age or the higher the grade, the better comprehending of section; But the intelligent aspects also play an important part.2 After researching into 12 different situations about cube, right circular cylinder, one nappe of a right circular cone and prism III, we can conclude that oblique cut is the most difficult to comprehensive for Junior middle school students while the oblique cut of a right circular cone is the most difficult to master.3 As far as this research are concerned, compared with the average students, there is no significant difference in gender among the outstanding students. Concerned with the average students, girls are better than boys in simple tasks. While in difficult tasks, boys are superior to girls.
