It is quite necessary and emergent to study the new teaching methods and to probe the new learning ways as the quality education is pushed further in china and the new course reform is implemented nowadays. With a long history, permutations and combinations is a special content in elementary maths and an important basic knowledge which is related closely to the reality. Permutations and combinations is a key and difficult point in high school maths teaching.Employing the method of document study, investigation, comparative analysis and case analysis, the present essay analyzes the values of students' learning permutations and combinations, investigates the teaching state and further summarizes the main elements which influence students' learning. Meanwhile, on the basis of studying the relevant teaching theories and teaching practice, the present essay points out the methods and ideas of improving the teaching quality, such as teaching effectively in accordance to students' psychological growing rules, evoking students' interest to improve learning efficiency, promoting knowledge consolidation to form good cognitive structure, choosing inflexibly teaching strategies etc.
