The thesis, beginning with affect in primary school pupils' English studies, and dealing with task-based teaching, approaches the problem of how to carry out affect teaching in primary school English teaching. The thesis consists of four parts: first, the existing problems in primary English teaching and the necessity and importance of developing pupil's affect in English teaching; second, the analysis of the theory of task-based English teaching model for support of affect teaching—this part inquires into the definition, the function of affect teaching from different points of view, and also the principle that affects teaching should follow and the value of affect teaching; third, the study of how the affect teaching works in primary English teaching—this part expounds how to develop the pupils' affect in English teaching by carrying out task-based teaching model from the following aspects: the input of language materials, the set of class activities, the teachers' control of their pupils in class, and the evaluation of the result of study, and then this part shows the try at combining task-based teaching model with the reality of the primary school, where different task-based teaching activities are designed, according to the different place of the task and the nature of the task; and the last, the suggestions and discussions as to affect teaching in primary school English teaching are given in order to help to improve English teaching of a primary school.
