Physics is a natural science based on experiments, and the experiment teaching plays a more and more important role in physics teaching. This is shown as follows: the new curriculum standard puts higher requirements in students' capacity to do experiments, the school provides better conditions for experiments and the physics curriculum increases the experiment class hour so that students can have sufficient time to carry out physics experiments.This thesis explores the theory and practice of the exploratory experiment teaching in middle school physics, guides students to learn physics in an exploratory way and arouses their interest in physics learning. It is stressed that the idea of exploration has to be permeated in physics experiment teaching. In the course of teaching, we should provide varieties of research topics and sufficient opportunities to explore, besides, we should encourage students to take part in the exploratory activities and experience the challenges and joys on their own.This thesis contains three sections.The first section mainly introduces the theoretical foundation of exploratory experiment teaching in middle school physics. At the beginning, I put forward the theoretical foundation from two aspects: education and psychology, then I expound its guiding idea and main features and analyze the difference between the exploratory experiment and the traditional verified experiment.The second section mainly deals with the basic principles we should obey in the exploratory experiment teaching, the role that the teacher plays and the organizing forms of the exploratory experiment teaching. Three examples are listed as well.Finally, in this thesis I summarize the achievement and experience accomplished since the exploratory experiment teaching was put into use. I also make a detailed analysis about the new situations and problems that are occurring. Furthermore, I reveal the significance of the exploratory experiment teaching and its great value in implementing quality education, promoting students' all-round development and nurturing creative personnel.The method this research topic adopts is that theory must be combined with practice.
