Learning and memory are different but nearly related neural activities, which are important functions in brain. Learning and memory have complicated biological mechanism. The study related indicated that long-term optimal exercise training not only improve physical health but also improve psychological health, thereby is benefit to comprehensive health. As the important composing of psychological health, learning and memory draw our attention recently. To do research on the effects of exercise on learning and memory is a way to prove the effects of exercise on psychological heath. With the development of molecular biology, people had got to know something of learning-memory related to gene and its function. Thereinto immediate-early gene c-fos\c-jun participate in the course of nerve cell signal conduction and apoptosis in brain, are related to cognizant function and learning-memory. C-fos\c-jun genes are necessary to long-term memory, thereby become external standard of learning and memory; another important gene is BDNF, which is one of the NGFs family members, congregate in nerve center system. It can improve the function of learning and memory by influencing the configuration and function of nerve junction, therefore, it can induce the memory to form and keep. We have known that long-term memory rely on composing of RNA and protein in brain, but this course is rely on gene transcription and modulation. So, to do research on influence of exercise on c-fos, c-jun, BDNF is the key issue to get to know the molecular mechanism of improving on learning and memory by exercise. We try to investigate the influence of swimming on learning-Memory of rats and on their relational genes c-fos\c-jun and BDNF, accordingly to study the molecular mechanism of this process.36 purebred male Spargue-Dawley rats are divided into two groups: Controlled(C, n=18), Trained(T, n=18). After swimming for 8 weeks, the two groups are divided into four groups again: Ca(n=10), Cb(n=10), Ta(n=8), Tb(n=8). Ca and Ta groups participate in the test of Morris maze. At the same time, Cb and Tb groups are inspecting the expression of c-fosmRNA, c-junmRNA, BDNFmRNA by RT-PCR. The results are as follows:(1) According to the data of the place navigation and spatial probe test in Morris maze, we know that comparing with the controlled group A, 8 weeks swimming training up regulates significantly the results in Morris maze.(2) Comparing with the controlled group B, 8 weeks swimming training up regulates the expression of c-fosmRNA(17% up regulate), c-junmRNA(28% up regulate),...
