Studying from the sociological angle, the tournament athletics is a sports culture which explores and develops human's sports ability into full play according to certain rules to create excellent records and triumph over the opponents, thus to show the sports strength of the individual and the team. At some historical period, people believed that the structure of sportsman's athletic ability is mainly embodied in two major aspects, the physical ability and the skill. Therefore, at that time the main contents and missions in athletic training were to improve the athletes'physical ability and skill. Along with the development of more and more fierce modern athletic competition and the higher demand on athletes'psychological ability, many athletes can not bear the psychological press of tense contests and show the insufficiency of psychological athletic ability, thus affect the normal play of sportsman's physical ability. The high jump as a sport event requires the athletes should not only have good physical training and skills, but also own excellent psychological traits because this event takes long time and the competition is very fierce. The winner is usually the one who is well-trained in all these aspects. The sports psychology draws a conclusion after many practices and researches that the athlete's mental state influences the result of the game directly. In the process of a closely fought game, the circumstance is ever-changing on the field. Facing the strong opponents and the noisy audience, the athlete has a very complex mental variety. Naturally, different mental states cause different results. The ego effect is a strong power in the behaviors and operations of mankind. It has very important function in the control and regulation of behaviors. The ego effect of an athlete is the athlete's cognition to his or her various abilities and the possible effects of the abilities. The ego effect is crucial to the athletes'training and contest. The level of ego effect plays an important function in the practice of athletic skill level. So people find that through the diagnosis and evaluation of athletes'ego effect in the training and contest, cultivating and training the athletes'ego effect accordingly is an effective way to improve the athletes'psychological quality and help them to practice their skill level. Currently, in our country the research of ego effect on sports training is not valued enough and investigated thorough enough. The documents about this area are limited and incomplete. Therefore the study and analysis of ego effect theory combining with a concrete event has theoretical and realistic meaning. My thesis makes experiments and research on the high jumpers via document studying, questionnaire survey, expert interview, experiment and mathematical statistics method. I intend to apply the ego effect theory into the amateur training of middle school woman's high...
