Since being proposed, statistical reasoning has been paid close attention to bystatisticians, educators and psychologists. Because in the modern society, it is a basic need formaking decisions and dealing with statistical information under uncertainty, so understandingthe way students reason with statistical ideas and make sense of statistical informationbecomes an urgent work to do;Through curriculum and pedagogy, we aim at help studentscombine ideas about data and chance, make relatively more sensible inference andinterpretation to statistical results. As a result, researching into the students' status quo ofstatistical reasoning not only provides materials for assessing curriculum and pedagogies, butalso finds out about their prior reasoning skills, through which we can practice more effectiveteaching. The subjects of this study come from 5 senior high schools in Changchun City andXiamen City. Basing on past researches, we use investigation questionnaire, interviews andstatistical analysis. After learning about the students' status quo of statistical reasoning, sexdifferences and national differences, we get the following three conclusions:First, the intuition and misconception students used in statistical reasoning assessment(SRA) are common.Secondly, the sex difference of senior high school students in China isn't so significantas that of in foreign countries.Thirdly, compared with Dutch, Chinese students get lower scores in the 9 correctreasoning scales, but their misconceptions' scale demonstrates a different result: in somescales, Chinese students get higher scores, while in other scales, they get lower ones.Based on those data and analysis, the paper also thinks about the reasons for the results. At the end of the paper, some suggestions on curriculum and teaching are given.
