Up to the autumn of the year 2004, the new round curriculum reform incompulsory education of elementary education had already carried out smoothlyin 2576 experimental areas all over China. More than 20 areas in Shandong,Guandong, Hainan and Ningxia, as the first experimental bases, are consideredto have carried out the new curriculum reform in ordinary high school. It ispredicted that up to September of the year 2007, the reform will reach half ofthe middle schools all over the country. The new round curriculum reform, starting from the point of satisfying theneed of the age, make great changes to the chemistry teaching materials, especially to the three sets of textbooks in use now. The publication and useof these three textbooks are the embodiments of the reform trend and emphasisunder the guide of the same new curriculum concept. The three sets of textbooksare the combination of vivacity and optimism, interdependence and cooperation, science and research, retrospection and innovation. In teaching contents, whilethey lay emphasis on the characteristics of base and age, the teaching materialsare divided into two different experimental teaching materials which focus ondifferent items according to different situations of teaching contents of highschool chemistry and the different needs of different individuals among students. This article makes an analysis and a contrast between Chemistry I and ChemistryII in knowledge structure, knowledge points, teaching assessment and researchlearning, when summing up their features and making a contrast between them.It analyses the questions in the process of choosing and using the experimentaltextbooks, so as to offer some references to the new-coming experimental areasin making the contrast of the textbooks of different editions. In the contrast of the new teaching materials, of course, certain problemshave been encountered. I hope we can deepen the understanding of the new teachingmaterials through study and communication.
