Given that the teaching on couplet has long been neglected, this article will dead with some problems on couplet-teaching which has almost disappeared from our Chinese class since the foundation of the PRC. Many Chinese teachers, especially those young ones, don't teach couplet because they don't know how to teach or even don't know how to write couplet by themselves. Therefore, few students can write or even appreciate couplets. Based on this phenomenon, the text carefully sees into the Language Curriculum Criterion and faithfully follows the basic characteristics oflanguage-teaching, thus to probe into the new topic-couplet-teaching,both theoretically and practically.The discourse can be divided into three parts.Part one briefly introduces the generation and some other related knowledge of couplet. It also retrospects the developing process of teaching couplet in class.Part two deals with the importance of couplet-teaching in Chinese class from its four functions, namely, educational function, cultivating function, aesthetic-education function and utility function. The author appeals to enhance teaching on couplet in Chinese teaching.Part three mainly introduces the performing strategy of couplet teaching. This section provides some feasible strategies of couplet-teaching from four aspects. First, teachers should whip up the student interest in couplet as well as arouse their ardor of participation. Second, teachers should keep increasing their knowledge on couplet. Third, teachers should provide special situations to help develop the students' appreciating and writing ability. Finally continuous study on couplet is necessary for teachers to im6prove their taste and mind on it.
