The institute of geology began to recruit students in the year of 1913,and was onlyfounded 3 years. She was just created under the situation of the beginning of geologycareer in china and the urgent need of geological specialists. Although she was calledinstitute, in fact, she was an academic school which fostered higher geologicalspecialists for china. She was the origination of geological education created byChinese people and systemic transmission of lately geological knowledge. Theinstitute of geology brought out the first group of Chinese geologists and they becamethe pioneers of Chinese geological science. She promoted the development of Chinesegeological career and Chinese geological education. She was a successfulexemplification of Chinese elite education at the beginning of 20 century.Southwest United University inherited the pattern of elite education from theinstitute of geology, and created the splendid period in the history of geologicaleducation in China. At the same time, she also passed this educational pattern. FromChina University of Geosciences, we can get the result that they continue the eliteeducational pattern. However, in the new stage,the elite educational pattern willbecome the new pattern to adapt the need of the stage and geological education.
