MBA education is a professional diploma program originated in the United States. As an important part of higher management education program, MBA has experienced a history of nearly hundred years. A course system has been developed to a rather perfect extent in MBA programs in European and American universities, with a theoretical background covering economics, management, natural sciences and humanities and the contents of the courses ranging across various aspects of the business operation and representing the features and requirements of market economy. MBA has become a focus of management education in developed countries and MBA graduates have been the major products of management schools, playing an important role in the country's economic development.Compared with the developed countries, China's MBA education started later but experienced a rapid development in more than ten years. MBA in China undertakes to cultivating qualified management staff for economic construction and need to be developed and reformed gradually to form an education mode which conforms to China's realities and market economic system and corresponding to international practices. Now an increased number of universities and various forms in operation patterns and programs exist in different MBA universities, while there are varieties in their strength and conditions. It is an urgent issue to be tackled with the problem as to how to operate MBA education well in conformity with international practices and with ones own special features in order to develop the potentiality MBA education. This paper focuses on the characteristics of MBA education running in economics and management universities with MBA School of D University as an example, and describes and analyses the practice in this university, with special emphasis on educational philosophy, system and special features of the programs in terms of a economics and management university.The thesis consists of four parts. Part One is an overall introduction of the fundamental theory of the MBA education. Part Two introduces the development procedure and current status in MBA education of foreign and domestic universities and makes a comparison, detecting the major disadvantages of China's MBA education. Part Three discusses the features and existing problems, and gives a detailed description of education mode in such universities represented in terms of promoting the advantages and avoiding the disadvantages. Part Four gives suggestions and comments on the education mode adopted by economic and management universities in the aspect of improvement and innovation on the bases of theabove discussion.
