The nature of science is root in philosophy, and now helping students to understand science through nature of science has become a focal question for discussion in international science education. At the same time, it has been indicated in new science curriculum in our country. Science educators believe that it is significative to understanding NOS for scientific literacy. So , it is necessary for us to discuss this theme further, and inquire what view about NOS should be educated and how to help student acquire them.In this paper, we review philosophic origin of NOS and the development of NOS in science education. We also expound the significance, intension and characteristic of education for NOS. In a word, we answer"what NOS is and why we should advocate this educational theme at first. Then we construct the view of NOS which middle school students should acquire.As we known, we should realize the current cognition of science teacher and students in our country. So, at the second step, we design a questionnaire according to material from foreign magazine and our own study. Our investigation indicates the current cognition of teachers'and students'about NOS is not optimistic ,that means it is important and necessary to strengthen education of NOS.The investigation also inspire us find an approach to improve students'current cognition, that is to attach importance to the process in science teaching, embracing process how science knowledge produce and how students construct science knowledge. Base on above view, we put forward two design method of chemistry teaching: inosculating history in teaching and used reflected discussion in science inquiry teaching. Other strategy are also advanced in this paper, for example, teacher can induct properly philosophical question to teaching, they also can improve students'cognition by using appropriate teaching language or textbook.
