The Form And Maintenance Of Village's Interests Community

In this thesis, it revealed the general progression of urban-village occurring in small cities and all the actions villagers took for the maintenance of their own interests during the changing process of their village by observing a typical urban-village The abilities of expression and maintain their own interests reflect the status of villagers, from the social and political aspects. It can cause serious social tensions and turbulences if their own interests can not be maintained properly. Thus, it is worthy of attentions to the actions villagers took for the maintenance of their own interests. This report is based on my investigation and research on this project for more than one year.Part 1: a general introduction to the existing researches on urban-village and the research scheme. It gives some information about the practical significance and research methods.Part 2: the basic introduction of the target village of the study including the history reviewing and the 10-year social change. It describes the change of economy, politics, culture, education and traffic of this village in 10 years. It also analyzes the development of the establishment and standardization of democratic regulations of this village and the foundation and functions of villagers' representative assembly in 10 years.Part 3: the form of the interests community. During 10 years' change of this village, the villagers choose to keep silence (no action) or have personal voices when facing the fact of destroyed interests at the beginning. The first choice is the commonest;the second is very radical, such as complaining in the public, appealing to the higher authorities for help, or taking distorted resistance. There has more reactions between villagers and has stronger feelings of self-identity in the process of those personal actions. Gradually, a tacit way of actors comes into being. They jointly confront various policy and pressure, which went against them in the system. Self-protection of interests is realized. And with the development of collective actions, the interests community grows up.Part 4: maintenance of community interests. The interests community of the villagers grows up with seeking after their own interests' maintenance. They prefer choosing the collective action to stick up for the community interests of whole villagers. This part firstly analyzes some cases of collective actions: "aggregate-type","deputy-type", "conflict-type" and "rational-type". The villagers prefer "deputy-type" and "rational-type" actions, which can with great efficiency, to protect their community interests.Part 5: further research on how actors balance their costs and profits under given situations and how they organize and mobilize their resources.Part 6: conclusion. Summarizing the main content of this thesis. In this part, the author, according to the differences of "urban-village" between big cities and small cities, puts some questions of countermeasures in the urban-villages of small cities and proposing some questions for the further study on the form of interests community and maintenance of the community interests.
