The Study and Application of Model Teaching Method in High School Geography The geography new curriculum standard explicitly pointed out that the geography education focuses on the students' life-long development. As the investigation shows that the traditional teaching method has been applied for a long time in teaching geography in high school. It neglects the students' main status, which restricts their abilities from being proved and decrease their interest in learning geography. This article introduces the model teaching methods which challenge the traditional one and talks about the necessity and the theoretical , practical significance of the application of the new methods. The fundamentality and exemplification principle are at the core of the methods. The model teaching method has enriched the connotation in teaching geography, promotes the growth of the students' abilities, urges the students to know how to study, makes the students aware of the importance of cooperation and improves the students' grades. The key of this essay is about the application of the model methods in geography teaching in high school. It first analyzes the features of the openness, independency and exploration in the method. Based on delving into the "four-stage-pattern", it forms its own educational model. During the implementation of the model teaching method, the critical points are choosing the correct examples and their development. Analyzing the model design, this essay studies the models' choice and development in several aspects in high school geography lessons. It goes from the examples chosen in the geography new teaching material to clearing up their knowledge source and then to their development, which has the certain feasibility. Combining with the author's teaching practice, this article provides several analyses of concrete examples. At the same time, it makes records of and comments on my teaching activity using the model teaching methods in the experimental class. Finally ,This article summarizes the application and enlightenment of the model teaching method, points out some questions existed and puts forward some essential proposals for operating the model teaching method.
