Inquiry learning, which is an important way and carrier to help students develop their creative mind and practical ability, which agrees with the notion of quality education, has become a hot topic in curricular innovation. The article defines some basic concepts concerning inquiry learning, describes philosophically, psychologically and pedagogically the theoretical background to the inquiry learning, discusses the importance, the features, the principles, the teaching strategies and procedures of implementing inquiry learning.The article not only discussed the commonness of inquiry learning that applies to each subject, but also the special character of applying to the biology teaching of the health school. The article introduces the experiment based on the theories about inquiry learning in the health school. The experiment is divided into two phases, which the first (2003.3-2003.7) is the one of exploration and the second (2003.9-2004.2) is one of formal experiment. The results of this experiment follow as:1 .Inquiry learning is possible, not only necessary but also effective for the health school in biology teaching. The subject instruction can be promoted by inquiry learning each other.2.Inquiry learning is helpful to improve the biology scores of the health school students, because implementing inquiry learning takes advantage to improve the study interest of biology and divert the study manner of the students, enhances helpfully to develop the self-consciousness of the students, is helpful to train various study abilities of the students.3.It asks us to deal with the role of students and the role of teacher dialeticly in the process of inquiry learning. The features of exploration, openness and independence embodied in inquiry learning require new standards in teachers' knowledge and vocational skills.According to the inquiry learning of biology teaching in health school at present, the article puts forward the problems that exist.
