| Based on the subjects of fifty-one physical communities and twenty-one institutional constructions in colleges and universities of Shanxi Province, the paper investigates the current physical institutional construction in collegesand universities from three different levels-----individual behavior, groupbehavior and institutional system, adopting the literature summary method, quetionnaire and mathematical statistics method with the aim to lay a theoretical foundation on the development of physical communities in colleges and universities in Shanxi Province and advances feasible suggestions and practical methods.The research shows that: (1) Current institutional management mode in Shanxi college and university communities is 'one body and two wings' mode with relatively reasonable institutional structure, well-developed community. Most physical communities are developing rapidly and steadily, and it is mainly determined by states' policy, people's support and approved organizational culture, organizational seale and organizational regulation. The activities are mainly contests, drills, lectures, competitions and exchanges between universities, as well as the gets-together of communities. They enrich community cultural life very much. However social public welfares are developed little. (2) The leaders of the community have clear motivation and positive attitude for their work. In light of choosing of leaders, the community provides fair play opportunities for those members who intend to bean the responsibility of organizing, which ensured the holistic quality of the community personnel. In light of the efficiency or the satisfaction of the activities, all the members hold that the support from the superior is important. (3) The .members participated in the activities are enthusiastically motivated, there are some took part in the community activities selectively. The behaviors of members featured differently just in accordance with their different ages.
