College time should have been a golden time for hard working and self-improvement. However, the ignorance of self-cultivation in moral character and a weak sense of laws and regulations among some college students has led to an ever-increasing number of criminal offenses on campus. Despite the comparatively small proportion of criminal offenses on campus, the special identity of college students offenders and a negative effect of criminal offenses committed by college students on society has made criminal offenses committed by college students an unavoidable social problem to be solved. Therefore, a study on criminal offenses committed by college students and on how to reinforce the ideological and ethical cultivation among college students is of vital realistic importance.Factors contributing to the ever-increasing number of criminal offenses committed by college students can be listed as follows: rapid changes brought on by market economy, a weakening social and individual mechanism, the drawbacks in educational system, a diversified culture, the negative effect of media and a lack of humanism. An effective way to deal with criminal offenses committed by college students lies in the cultivation of sound moral character and a healthy psychology among college students, the improvement of social and legal mechanism, an improvement of work style, the construction of campus culture and the creation of a harmonious atmosphere in family.
