| People gain their knowledge and information generally by reading. Therefore, in some sense, reading is the mother of study, the source of wisdom and the basic stone of teaching. But many students still show no interest in reading even after more than ten years of study at school. According to the results of the questionnaire, the thesis finds that the teaching of reading in schools does little to develop the students' reading interest, reading habits, reading methods and so on and that all this results from the demerits in the course curriculum, teaching materials, teachers, examinations, etc. By means of questionnaire, observation and reference, this thesis firstly presents the idea that the preliminary structural elements in teaching reading include elements in knowledge, intelligence, methods and psychology. Then it gives some advice on different teaching emphasis in different stages of the students and some advice on curriculum setting, teaching process and evaluation system. |
