This project studies a test system evaluating students' chemistry cognitive level which is developed under the guidance of new curriculum evaluation idea and vygotsky's theory of zone of proximal development combining with computer technology. It is a comprehensive project including modern pedagogy, psychology (especially cognitive psychology), measurement and assessment of chemistry education, chemical knowledge, educational statistics, and computer technology. And it provides a more rational stage to test chemistry cognitive level of examinees. The system can be applied to various chemistry examines, developed into excise software, and can serve other subjects after expanded. The system designs a "man-machine interaction-- assessment" method adapting different individuals, taking measures in accordance with people like "teaching students in accordance with their aptitude". It avoids the malpractice of judging from truth or false in traditional examination, pays more attention to the thought process, applies weight idea to marking, which make every test item tell students' different situations, like understanding completely, having scanty knowledge, and knowing nothing. The system takes improving the validity by enhancing distinction as its final goal, and to some extent, controls the harmful tendencies of guessing the answers to objective questions. The function of marking examination papers automatically and statistics frees teachers from busy work, and improves the feedback effect of test examination. It not only reveals the defect of individual knowledge but also draw analysis diagram aiming at all the students, and makes teachers improve teaching strategies with aim, finally makes teaching and learning have a definite object in view. The thesis includes six chapters: Firstly the background and significance of the project are involved in the first chapter, then the history of computer technology applied to examination and the research situation at home and abroad are mentioned. It can be found that developing measurement—evaluation system with new evaluating idea is possible in technology and widespread in application. Chapter Two is concerned with theoretical basis for the project research, mainly including understanding to measurement and assessment theory, the location of assessment system measuring chemical cognitive level, and educational psychology theory of constructing measurement—evaluation system. Chapter Three presents the main designing idea of the measurement and assessment system from the aspects of the whole designing policy, test content, question form and evaluation function. Chapter Four elaborates test system from the structure, process of system, software and hardware condition, developing instruments, the function model design of test process, and the realization of some important functions. Chapter Five introduces several experimental testprocesses applying the system, and uses the software: EXCEL, SPSS to analyze test data, then gets the feedback to the system from students and teachers by questionnaire or conversation. Hereby specific evaluation is given to the system. Chapter Six focuses on creativity and limitation of this project. Developing test system embodying new curriculum evaluation idea and enhancing distinction is rare in our homeland. It has referential value to computer assisted test system.
