Education quality is the lifeline of education as well as the lifeline of higher school. How to improve the teaching quality of higher education has become the focused subject of higher education staff. First of all, to improve the quality of teaching, the schools must learn the present condition of teaching quality and adopt pertinence measures. One way to judge teachers' teaching quality is to assess his (her) teaching effectiveness (evaluation of teaching for brief), student evaluation of teaching is a very important part of teaching evaluation and is emphasized by higher schools gradually. But due to various reasons, there still exists some problems in practice. Therefore, it is quite necessary to improve the validity of student evaluation of teaching, and an all- around and thorough study of the validity has magnificent meaning in helping solving the problems that exist in student evaluation of teaching and guaranteeing it is carried through properly consequently guaranteeing its validity.This paper presents the information on the basis of literature review, theory analysis and practical inspection. First, it narrates the validity theory of student evaluation of teaching, and then, it analyzes the connotation of validity, besides, the paper also tries to find out the factors that may affect the validity of student evaluation of teaching from the following aspects: the ultimate goal of student evaluation of teaching, the instrument, the organization, the psychology interference of teachers and students, the feedback and use of results. Second, the paper describes and analyzes the practice and problems, the main problems are: the instrument of student evaluation, the organization, the count of the results, the feedback and use of the results and so on. Last, the paper puts forward the countermeasures to improve the validity of student evaluation of teaching based on the validity connotation and problems in practice, specifically, the main countermeasures are: improving teachers and students' understanding, designing scientific instrument, organizing student evaluation strictly and regularly, feedback information and using the results of student evaluation properly.
