| As the spiritual pole of a nation, national spirit (NS) is an important measurement of national comprehensive power .with the increasing sharp competition of national power with scientific and technological research the core in the new century .the development of NS has become an important project in enhancing the cohesion and comprehensive power of China, in which Colleges should play an essential role. By now, a lot of researches have been conducted in the field. The major research areas include the significance, the contents and approaches of NS development .But inadequate attention has been paid to the development of NS among college students and the college students' understanding of national spirit is still not clearly demonstrated. In this research , field work statistics and knowledge have been applied to achieve objective college student's understanding of NS ,Then the approaches to develop NS are discussed to provide some guidelines for colleges to ensure a healthy orientation of NS development.The paper is divided into 3 sections:The first section discusses the basic theories of national spirit development among college students, starting from an analysis of the definition of national spirit. This section provides a detailed discussion of the theories of scholars at home and aboard, of the classical Marxist writers and especially those of the three generations of leaders of CCP, Also, the function of Chinese national spirits is stated and the points to be emphasized in college students national spirit development.The second section analyses the features of college students' understanding of national spirit. This part has not been deeply studied before, and the comprehensive and persuasive statistics has been lacking. This study aims to provide some insight in this part. In the study, questionnaire has been used to investigate the understanding of national spirit among undergraduates and graduates at Wuhan University. Based on the data, the features of college students' understanding of national spirit are stated and the relevant factors are analyzed to achieve an objective demonstration of the college students understanding of national spirit.The third section provides possible approaches to develop national spirit among college students. As a concluding part, this section discusses the principles, the emphasis and approaches of developing national spirit. |
