| The implementation of the state strategy to speed up development of China's western provinces has caused drastic changes in the social environment of affected college students. It is important for college students to understand concepts of democracy and due process of law. We investigated college students' understanding of democracy and the legal system. We learned about their viewpoints and how these viewpoints were formed. Our goal is to help college students achieve better understanding of democracy and the legal system. We should take into consideration the actual conditions of colleges and universities, and then strenghthen current measures as follows. Evaluate the status of and emphasize the importance of the legal system and its basis in a democratic process. Create teaching systems to highlight democracy and legal system in a variety of ways. Review the preferred teaching techniques and objectives with the faculty. Create a culture in the faculty and the classroom to promote democracy and democratic principles. |
